Supporting ambitious, practical journalism across accredited courses
The BJTC Special Journalism Event Grant helps accredited courses create outstanding real‑world journalism opportunities for their students.
Each accredited course can apply for one £250 grant per academic year to support a practical journalism event that brings learning to life.
Whether you’re planning a community newsday, a live reporting project or a collaborative event with industry or local partners, this grant is designed to help you make it happen.
How The Grant Can Be Used
The grant supports practical journalism events that give students hands on experience and help them produce meaningful journalism. Events might include:
- A community newsday held off campus.
- Live reporting from an election count, sports fixture or cultural event.
- A pop up newsroom for a special editorial project.
- A collaborative journalism project with a charity, council or community group.
- A public facing broadcast, exhibition or student led journalism launch.
If the event helps students practise journalism, build confidence and develop industry‑aligned skills, it’s likely to be eligible.
